A fire reaches an oil factory on Governador Island in the north of Rio de Janeiro. An extensive smoke can be seen from different parts of the city. The Fire Department, technicians from the State Environment Institute (INEA) and city agents are on site. So far, there is no record of injuries.
The barracks of the Fire Department of Fundão, Central, Penha and Governor Island were called at 12:30 pm, according to the corporation. At 4 pm, the number of units mobilized for the operation had risen to 15. There are at least 67 military agents operating in the fire fighting, with the aid of technical water supply group.
Inea reported that it was triggered for the fire of the lubricant factory and that the institute’s technicians follow the firefighting responses with the Fire Department to evaluate possible environmental damage.
The Rio de Janeiro City Hall Operations Center blocked Rua da Ribeira Street, at Lourenço da Veiga Street, where the fire takes place. And sent municipal guard agents to the place.
The factory is from the Cosan Group, focused on the production, marketing and distribution of lubricating oil and specialties.
