A fire in a truck loaded with gas cylinders interrupted vehicle traffic on the Niterói-Manilha highway (BR-101), in both directions, on the morning of today (17). According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), no one was injured.
According to Arteris Fluminense, the concessionaire that manages the road, the incident occurred at km 318, in São Gonçalo, Grande Rio, towards Niterói.
Firefighters were called in to fight the flames but are finding it difficult, as the fire continues to be fueled by gas from cylinders.
The fire started around 7:30 am, according to the PRF, and traffic was stopped in both directions of the road. About 20 minutes later, the lane towards Itaboraí was released.
Traffic for those traveling towards Niterói is being diverted at km 316. The traffic jam reaches 4 kilometers in length, according to Arteris.
