A fire on a slope of Cerro del Toro affected several hectares of Maldonado and required the work of squads from Montevideo, reported to The Observer the national director of Firefighters, Ricardo Riaño.
Due to the advance of the fire, the Cerro del Toro campsite, located on the slope of the hill, had to be evicted, the director explained.

“We are going to continue working so that it does not get out of control”announced the director, who warns that the temperature increase and the winds in the area They can reignite the flames.
They will also start working on the site helicopters with water for coolinghe added.
Several social media users reported a “burning smell” in Montevideo this morning, and some associated it with the fire that occurred in Cerro del Toro. Asked about it, Riaño clarified: “We didn’t really get to associate it.”
