The accident occurred shortly before noon in an apartment in the building located at Lombillo 792 between Hidalgo and Estancia, in the Consejo Popular Plaza, according to official information.
The Havana authorities confirmed the death of a person, although without specifying details about their identity.
For their part, publications on the networks and unofficial media indicate that it was an elderly woman who was inside the damaged apartment, located on the fifth floor of a 12-story building, and was not able to be helped in time.
These publications mention the occurrence of explosions at the site, something that was not mentioned in the official note. According to it, specialists from the Fire Department and the Ministry of the Interior were investigating the cause of what happened.
