A fire in an industrial complex on the outskirts of the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires generated a strong explosion on Friday night, although at the moment no fatalities have been reported from the accident, firefighters from the area of the incident said.
The explosion occurred due to a fire in three buildings where agrochemical products were located in a factory complex in the town of Carlos Spegazziniin the province of Buenos Aires, an official from the Tristán Suárez Fire Department, who was fighting the fire, told Reuters.
Different Argentine media uploaded images of the fire obtained from social networks to their websites, in which a great column of fire and a loud roar at the moment the explosion occurred.
According to the main officer of the Carlos Spegazzini detachment of the Tristán Suárez Fire Department, at the moment no fatalities had been reported from the incident and units were trying to control the fire.
The mayor of the Ezeiza district, where Carlos Spegazzini is located, said on the local news channel TN that the origin of the fire had not yet been determined, but that at the moment only people with minor injuries had been reported in homes in the vicinity of the industrial park.
“Everything is very confusing,” said Gastón Granados, mayor of Ezeiza.
Meanwhile, activity was normal at the Ezeiza airport, Argentina’s main international air terminal, located about 15 kilometers from the accident site.
