Fire breaks out in the most important Industrial Fishing Company in Cuba

In the last two days, about 1,300 kilos of lobster had been stored there, a food that has become extinct on Cuban tables.

LIMA, Peru – A fire broke out during the early hours of this Saturday at the La Coloma Industrial Fishing Company, the most important of its kind in Cuba.

According to the state newspaper Guerrillaforces from the Pinar del Río Fire Department are working at the scene of the incident to put out the flames.

Yordan Nogueira Tapia, director of the entity, pointed out that so far no loss of human life or risk of ammonia escape has been reported. Likewise, that the industry was not working at the time of the fire.

An officer’s report Radio Guamá assures that the flames have severely affected the industrial processing area, where the most important processes take place.

Nogueira Tapia also stated that in the last two days only about 1,300 kilos of lobster had been stored there, pending packaging, and they were waiting for new volumes of the product.

The La Coloma Industrial Fishing Company provides around 45% of the lobster caught in Cuba, in addition to 80% of the bonito. While the Castro regime uses these products for the tourism and export sector, both foods have almost completely disappeared from the tables of the people on the Island.

Fires in Cuba during the last months

An evacuation of students occurred last Monday in Ciudad Escolar Libertad, in the Marianao municipalityafter reports about a possible fire or explosion in the vicinity of the educational complex.

Although the information began to circulate on social networks and independent media, the Cuban authorities have not offered any official version about the origin or magnitude of the incident. The government’s silence increased the concern of parents and residents of the area.

A large fire took place during the early hours of September 21 at the Fuel plant of the Antonio Maceo (Renté) thermoelectric plant, in Santiago de Cuba, worsening the availability of that unit in the midst of the current energy crisis that the Island is experiencing.

In one updatethe Cuban Electrical Union described the incident as “large and painful.” The state company reported that it had already been completely extinguished and that there was no loss of life.

Although the causes of the fire are unknown so far, one of the firefighters interviewed by the official Canal Cubano de Noticias said that the incident occurred during the start-up process of the plant due to the failure of one of the engines.

A fire that occurred on September 15 in the generating set of the Amalia Simoni Hospital, in Camagüey, forced the transfer of patients in critical condition to the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Hospital. The incident, caused by an electrical overload, occurred around 9:00 in the morning.

According to confirmed the director of the medical center, Lilianny María Hidalgo Ruiz, the incident was put out by firefighters without any victims being reported. The hospital management indicated that the electrical service was restored around three hours later and that the hospital systems are functioning normally. However, as a preventive measure, serious patients were evacuated from the intensive care room.
