MIAMI, United States. – A fire broke out this Friday between 11:30 and 11:45 am at the headquarters of the publishing house of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cubalocated on Zanja Street No. 352, corner of Escobar, in Havana Center. The incident caused the mobilization of firefighters and law enforcement officers, as can be seen in several photos of the scene taken by a collaborator of CubaNet.
According to preliminary reports, the fire was caused by the explosion of an electrical transformer installed on the façade of the building. Although the images show smoke and visible damage on the exterior, no significant damage is apparently reported inside the editorial headquarters.
The fire team, along with security personnel, worked to extinguish the flames and secure the area. In the images captured at the scene, several passers-by and onlookers can be seen observing the scene, while firefighters proceeded to handle the situation.
So far no injuries have been reported. However, Cuban authorities have not reported the incident.
