Two people dead, 13 thousand 70 in shelters, in the homes of relatives or neighbors, twelve isolated communities and 2 thousand 614 homes affected is the balance so far of the damage left by the passage through the Dominican Republic of Hurricane Fiona, reported after 11:00 in the morning the Emergency Operations Center (COE).
In his report he also cites that one million 174 thousand 637 people do not have water and that 406 users of the electrical system were affected by the loss of 166 circuits nationwide. In total 78 aqueducts are out of service.
Yesterday, Mr. Isidro Odalis Smith, 68, died in Nagua when a tree fell on him in the community of Matancita. While in Higüey, the young Aurelys Esther Jiménez, 18, died when she was hit by a power line pole while she was traveling on a motorcycle.
Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the COE, also reported that 4 homes were destroyed and another 457 were partially affected by Fiona.
The COE maintains (19) provinces on Yellow Alert and (08) on Green Alert due to possible urban and rural flash floods, flooding of rivers, streams and ravines, as well as landslides.

He recommended that people should refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines that have high volumes of water, not to use spas, in the provinces under alert.
He reported that according to today’s weather bulletin, it is established that today Tuesday, at 7:00 am, the center of Hurricane Fiona is located near latitude 21.6 north and longitude 71.2 west, about 30 km southeast of Grand turk island.
Maximum winds are 185 kph with higher gusts. Hurricane-force winds extend about 45 km. outside its center and the storm ones about 240 km. Fiona is moving north/northwest at about 17 kph and its center will continue to move away from the territory.
The wide cloud field of Fiona will continue to generate moderate to heavy rains with thunderstorms on Dominican soil.
Discontinue alert
Méndez said that hurricane conditions are discontinued from Cabo Caucedo to Cabo Francés Viejo, and the warning for hurricane conditions from Cabo Francés Viejo to Puerto Plata is also discontinued.
yellow alert
The provinces that remain on yellow alert are Santo Domingo Hato Mayor, San Cristóbal Barahona Peravia, Duarte, (especially BajoYuna). San Pedro de Macoris,. Sánchez Ramírez, Santiago Rodríguez, Azua, San José Ocoa, La Romana Santiago, El Seibo.
Green
Among those on green alert are Barahona, Azua Peravia, Pedernales, San Juan and Hermanas Hermanas.
prohibitions
The use of beaches and water sports is prohibited on all coasts of the country.
All recreational activities in the mountains and the use of spas in rivers, pools, canals and streams are prohibited.
All vessels in the coastal perimeter of the country must remain in port.
downpours continue
In recent hours, the downpours have continued in the populations of the eastern and northwestern regions, as well as in some of the southern region of the country, for which the population has been recommended to be attentive to the reports of the relief agencies.
