The incidence of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) continued to fall in the South, Southeast and Midwest states, according to the InfoGripe Bulletin, released today (28) by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). The study has data that include until July 23, ending the 29th epidemiological week of the year.
According to the bulletin, covid-19 accounts for 79.4% of SARS viral cases registered between July 17 and 23.
The coordinator of the group responsible for InfoGripe, Marcelo Gomes, highlights that the scenario is finally one of reduction in hospitalizations for covid-19 in the three regions. “We have a very positive sign, finally, because we have confirmation that the southern half of the country is already showing very clear signs that several states are experiencing declines”.
The states of these regions experienced increases in cases that started in April, while in the North and Northeast the movement started up to 2 months later. As a result, the North is still experiencing an increase in the incidence of the syndrome, while in the Northeast this movement is already showing signs of interruption.
According to Fiocruz, SRAG’s growth trend is maintained in Amazonas, Amapá, Bahia, Maranhão, Pará, Piauí, Rondônia, Sergipe and Tocantins.
Despite the drop in the southern half of the country, the states of Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina still have a high level of SARS in children, which requires caution.
