3,700 SARS cases were recorded in Epidemiological Week 15, which corresponds to April 10 to 16, 2022. Among them, about 1,800 were in children aged 0 to 4 years. According to Fiocruz, the incidence in children has grown a lot since February, showing the formation of a plateau and now begins a decline.

On the other hand, the analysis warns that the percentage of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) cases continues to increase, which reached 41.5% of the total SARS cases registered in the last four weeks, even though the disease is mainly observed in children.

In the 0-4 age range, laboratory tests indicated 66.4% of RSV, falling to 23% in the 5-11 age range. In national data for all ages, there is stabilization in adult age groups, with positivity of 36% for rhinovirus and 28% for Sars-CoV-2 (covid-19).

Regional analysis

Among the 27 federation units, eight show signs of growth in the long-term trend: Acre, Amapá, Mato Grosso, Pará, Piauí, Paraná, Roraima and Rio Grande do Sul. Alagoas and Paraíba are showing signs of growth in the short term. All of them with an incidence mainly in the child population.

Among the capitals, eight show signs of growth in the long-term trend: Belém (PA), Cuiabá (MT), Curitiba (PR), Florianópolis (SC), Macapá (AP), Porto Alegre (RS), Porto Velho (RO) ), and Rio Branco (AC).

According to Fiocruz, 30 health macro-regions are currently at a pre-epidemic level for the incidence of SARS, 21 at an epidemic level, 64 at a high level, two at a very high level and one at an extremely high level: Corumbá/MS.

InfoGripe data show that in the last four epidemiological weeks, the prevalence was 1.6% for Influenza A, 0.2% for Influenza B, 41.5% for RSV and 37.4% for Sars-CoV-2. Among the deaths in which there was laboratory confirmation of the respiratory virus that causes SARS, 1.6% were due to Influenza A, 7.8% due to RSV and 79.8% due to Sars-CoV-2 (covid-19).
