FIO Governing Council condemns the attack on Pablo Ulloa

The Ibero-American Federation of the Ombudsman (TRUST) condemned the aggression of which he was a victim Paul Ulloathe Dominican Ombudsman, during an inspection visit to the vehicle retention center known as The Dog Track.

“The Ibero-American Federation of the Ombudsman condemns the aggression of which the staff of the institution that accompanied him, as well as journalists from different media outlets, were also victims by agents of the General Directorate of Land Transport Traffic Safety (DIGESET), within the framework of an inspection at the Vehicle Retention Center, Greyhound Track, under Article 3 of NO. 19”, establishes a statement sent by the international organization.

In the communication they specify that the Ombudsman is an independent authority, an executor who is not subject to any limitation other than adherence to the Constitution and Law NO. 19-01.

In addition, they explain that one of the objectives of the Ombudsman is to help safeguard the fundamental rights of individuals and the collective and diffuse interests established in the Constitution and the laws, in case they are violated by public administration officials.

Formal complaint before the IAPA

All the country’s media have condemned the outrage and one of them has made a formal complaint to the Inter-American Press Association, for being victims of a serious constitutional violation of their rights, after the outrage against two of their reporters, states the press release .

The Ombudsman and his staff went to the place duly uniformed and the objective of the inspection was to verify and confirm the complaints that had been received from the citizens.

After the incident, the Ombudsman, the President of the TRUST, Paul Ulloawent to file a formal complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office for the aggression of which they were victims.
