Finland officially became a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on Tuesday, becoming the 31st country to enter this group of countries, provoking a strong response from Russia, which warned that this entry of the Finns could “bring consequences”.
All this occurs in the current political landscape of Europe where fighting between Russia and Ukraine continues at the moment in a war that began in February 2022 when the Russians invaded Ukrainian territory.
Russia announced that this NATO measure to allow Finland to enter is against its security and Russian interests.
For Finland this means that under any attack on the Arctic country, NATO member countries have a duty to come to its defense under the context of “an attack on one member is considered an attack on all”.
