The Electoral Justice received, in all, at least 28,000 registrations of candidacies for the October elections. The campaign officially started on Tuesday (16).
Twelve applications for the presidency and 12 for vice president were received; 223 for governor and vice-governor, 231 for senator, 10,238 for federal deputy, 16,161 for state deputy and 591 for district deputy.
In Alagoas, seven candidates are running for office. Check out the complete list:
Firefighter Luciano Fontes (PMB): a native of Arapiraca and a military firefighter for 16 years, Fontes, 44, has already contested for federal deputy, but was not elected. In May 2022, he launched his candidacy for buffer governor of Alagoas in the indirect election, held after the resignation of then governor Renan Filho (MDB). The candidate for lieutenant governor on the ticket is military firefighter Rogers Tenório (PMB), 48 years old.
Collor (PTB): former president Fernando Affonso Collor de Mello, 73, has also commanded the state and was a federal deputy, in addition to being elected mayor of Maceió. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he is a senator and graduated in economics from the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL). Councilor for Maceió Leonardo Dias (PL) is the candidate for vice-governor on the ticket.
Luciano Almeida (PRTB): the 53-year-old trader tries for the first time for public office. Born in Maceió, he competes for a spot in the PRTB / PROS coalition. The deputy on the plate is private driver Humberto Santos Faria, 43 years old, from PRTB.
Paulo Dantas (MDB): current state governor, indirectly elected in May, Dantas, 43, has a degree in business administration. State deputy, he resigned to assume the buffer term as governor of Alagoas, after the resignation of Renan Filho. He has also been mayor of Batalha (AL), for two consecutive terms. Ronaldo Lessa (PDT), current deputy mayor of Maceió, will be the candidate for vice.
Professor Cícero Albuquerque (PSOL): university professor and popular educator, Albuquerque, 57, holds a degree in history with a master’s degree in sociology and a doctorate in social sciences. Born in Atalaia (AL), he was a candidate for the Senate in 2018, but was not elected. The deputy will be the farmer Eliane Silva, 49 years old, from the same party.
Rodrigo Cunha (Union Brazil): current state senator, Cunha, 41, is a lawyer, with a postgraduate degree in project management and consumer law. He was superintendent of Procon in Alagoas. He was also a federal deputy for one term, before being elected senator. Born in Arapiraca, the second largest city in the state, he is the son of Ceci Cunha, a federal deputy murdered in 1998. State deputy Jó Pereira (PSDB), 48, is running for vice president.
Rui Palmeira (PSD): born in Maceió, Palmeira, 46 years old, is a lawyer and former mayor of his hometown. He has also held the positions of state deputy and federal deputy. Graduated in law, he holds a postgraduate degree in tax law and public finance. Arthur Albuquerque (Republicans), businessman, 32 years old, will be the vice president of the ticket.
