Find out how to apply for the Brazilian National Teaching Card

In-service teachers in public and private networks across the country, including temporarily hired professionals, can now apply for the Brazilian National Teaching Card (CNDB) at website of the program More Teachers for Brazil.Find out how to apply for the Brazilian National Teaching Card

The portfolio is aimed at professionals at all levels and stages of education, from early childhood education to higher education. The Ministry of Education (MEC) estimates that 2.7 million licenses can be issued voluntarily in Brazil.

Valid throughout the national territory for ten years after its issuance, the official document will have the date expressed on the card itself.

The federal government’s initiative aims to identify teachers and facilitate access to half-price discounts at cultural events and new benefits at some stores partnering with the program.

On Wednesday (15), around 1,500 active teachers were the first to receive the CNDB, across the country, at a Teachers’ Day celebrationin Rio de Janeiro.

On the occasion, the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, announced that, after the first stage, retired teachers will also be entitled to the license.

Request step by step

THE Brazilian National Teaching Card is not mandatory for the exercise of the function.

To obtain the document, the teacher must have the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF) in good standing with the Federal Revenue Service and be working as a teacher at an educational institution registered with the MEC.

The link to request, made available yesterday by the Ministry of Education on website of the Mais Professores para o Brasil Program, requires access by logging into the Gov.br platform account.

On the Mais Professores virtual page, the system will automatically bring personal data and information about links with educational institutions, as registered in the federal government and education networks databases.

The interested professional must check the form data, confirm the information, fill in the full address and contact details (email and telephone) and digitally send a 3×4 photo, in accordance with the standard established by the Ministry of Education.

At that moment, the teacher will be able to view the digital version of the future CNDB with photo and complete data.

If the data is correct, it is necessary to confirm the issue. The teacher will have the option to download of the document for immediate use, which will give you access to the benefits of the Mais Professores program.

The printed version will only arrive next year, warns the Ministry of Education.

Problems

If the teacher’s relationship has not been recognized by the system or if any data is incorrect, the teacher will need to contact the educational institution that employs him or her.. The objective is to ensure that the professional’s employment relationship has the correct code in the database.

If the registration photo is rejected when applying for a license, the teacher must check whether the image sent meets the requested standard.

Other situations

For the Law No. 15,202/2025which created the National Teaching Card, only practicing teachers are entitled to it. Therefore, self-employed teachers are not entitled to the CNDB, because they are not linked to an educational institution.

Every person with a license but employed at a teaching unit will have the right to new identification. Likewise, teachers who are in school management, as long as the link with the educational institution is as a teacher.

If the person loses their job, the national card continues to be valid as an identification document within the document’s validity period. Its use to access professional benefits as a teacher will expire three months after the date of the last payment.

To confirm whether a person’s National Teaching Card is valid, simply access the QR Code printed on the document and then check whether they still have a valid teaching employment contract.
