The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) published the regulations of Law 32413 that enables the use of digital wallets to make payment of wages and other work obligations.
“Digital wallets are recognized as mobile applications that allow access and transfer of funds resulting from the payment of salaries and other work obligations to said accounts,” the standard reads.
In this way, the worker has the right to choose whether he wants the deposit to be made into a bank account or into the electronic wallet of his choice. It must be specified that if you want to make a change, you must notify it within 10 business days of the month corresponding to the payment of your salary.
In addition, it is established that the wallets that participate in this new functionality are those that are authorized by the Central Reserve Bank to offer interoperable payment services.
The regulation also states that the Ministry of Labor, after implementing the necessary adjustments in the electronic return in coordination with the General Directorate of Financial Markets and Private Pension of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, provides monthly to said directorate anonymized information for the monitoring of deposits in savings, electronic money and cash accounts.
CHOICE
For new employees of a company, it must be taken into account that they must inform the employer, within ten business days of starting the relationship, the name of the financial system company or Electronic Money Issuing Company (EEDE) chosen for the payment of salaries.
Once this period has expired without having informed your choice, the company may pay the remuneration in money or in any financial institution where the work center is located.
