Rafael Correa assures that Belgium considers him a “political persecuted”
The former president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, assured that Belgium recognized his status as “politically persecuted” by granting him asylum, a situation that, in the opinion of the former president, is a “slap in the face” to the judicial system and the current Ecuadorian government.
“The Geneva Convention is very restrictive and among the grounds for granting asylum is political persecution: (Belgium) is recognizing that we are politically persecuted, that we are not corrupt, that the criminals have always been them,” Correa told the station. Argentine Radio 10.
Belgium granted political asylum to Correa, as confirmed to Efe this week by the former president’s lawyer, Christophe Marchand.
President of Ukraine denounces concentration camps
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denounced that Russian forces are holding Ukrainian citizens in concentration camps, from where they are sent to Siberia and Russia’s Far East.

Shooting in Guatemala leaves four injured
At least five men were killed this Saturday during a shootout in the south of Guatemala City, in which four other people were also injured, as confirmed by the relief bodies.
The Guatemalan Volunteer Firefighters detailed through their communication channels that the “intense shooting” took place in a village in the municipality of Villa Canales, in the department of Guatemala (center), where the capital of the Central American country is located.
