The capital of Texas protects the right to abortion
Austin, capital of Texas, USA, approved a resolution to protect the right to abortion in a state with a total veto of this procedure, after the ruling in June by the country’s Supreme Court against this right.
On its website, the Austin City Council announced that it had passed a resolution “affirming the city’s commitment to protecting the right of individuals to make their own reproductive health decisions.”
The initiative also limits the use of local funds in data collection efforts on abortions, and eliminates as a priority the application of criminal laws against these procedures.

The US remains on alert for high temperatures
More than 100 million Americans are on alert this Thursday for high temperatures in the country, which according to the national weather service exceed 60 daily maximum records so far this week.
Among the cities that reached those records are Abilene, in the state of Texas, with 110 °F (43.3 °C), and Salt Lake City, Utah, with 107 °F (41.6 °C).
The Meteorological Forecast Center specified in a statement that the southwest, east and east of the country are the most affected areas, while strong storms are expected in the northeast and southeast.
There will be temperatures above normal for the rest of the week, “with a significant portion of the population under alert,” added that agency, according to which in states like Utah night temperatures will drop only to 80 ° F (26, 7 °C), which will provide only “relative relief”.
