Tornado in Missouri left five dead in the US
At least five people died and dozens were injured by a destructive storm that occurred this Wednesday in the state of Missouri, in the central United States.
Photos published by the Highway Patrol of that region show dozens of houses destroyed and trees uprooted. The total number of those affected is not clear because data on what happened is still being received and rescue efforts are being carried out.
Some 85 million people remain on alert in the country for a storm system that is moving towards the center of the United States, after passing through the states of Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Michigan, where a dozen tornadoes have been reported in the last hours.
Brazil creates a group against school violence after a new attack and four deaths
The Brazilian government announced the creation of a working group to combat school violence, after registering a new attack, the second in ten days, this time with the murder of four children.
The announcement was made by the Ministers of Education, Camilo Santana, and Justice, Flávio Dino, after an emergency meeting called by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva after the attack with an ax in a kindergarten in the city Blumenau, in the south of the country.
Petro orders to speed up the evacuation of 2,500 families near the Ruiz volcano
The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, asked that “the preventive evacuation of 2,500 families” be accelerated who are in areas close to the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, that the orange alert is maintained, indicating that there is a probability that in days or weeks erupt.
“We have asked the Departmental Risk Councils to speed up the preventive evacuation of 2,500 families who are at high risk due to the Nevado del Ruiz contingency,” Petro said in a message on his Twitter account.
