AREQUIPA, Peru – The Financiera Cimex SA (FINCIMEX) of the regime on the Island informed the population that at midnight next Monday, January 27, it would temporarily interrupt part of its service.
“At midnight next Monday, January 27, all magnetic stripe cards circulating in the country (REDSA, AIS, Clásica, Visa, MasterCard, Union Pay, MIR) will be unable to operate for six hours,” points out a statement on Facebook.
As FINCIMEX explained, this system shutdown is carried out with the objective of applying “essential” technological updates in card processing.
Likewise, the publication clarified that the effects will not include service centers in CUP (national currency) and that national payment gateways (Transfermóvil and En Zona) will remain as alternatives, as well as the use of cash in those places where its use is appropriate. .
“The specialists will work to reactivate it at 06:00 a.m. on the same day, so that it is available during the time of greatest operational demand,” the publication adds.
In 2020, the United States government sanctioned the GAESA conglomerate and FINCIMEX, two companies “controlled” by the Armed Forces of Cuba with a strategic role in the Island’s economy.
The Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, then pointed out in a release that GAESA (SA Business Administration Group) “is the largest company in the Cuban Armed Forces, which controls large portions of Cuba’s economy for the benefit of the Army.”
For its part, FINCIMEX “channels remittances through channels that disproportionately benefit the Cuban Armed Forces,” added the head of US diplomacy.
Pompeo assured that “the income generated by the economic activities of the Cuban Armed Forces is used to shore up the power of the Cuban Communist Party, oppress the Cuban people and finance Cuba’s interference in Venezuela.”
