Santo Domingo. – The Permanent Attention Office of the National District imposed the payment of a financial guarantee and the exit impediment as a measure of coercion against Freddy Nunez and Evaristo Ozoria, president and treasurer of the Dominican Modern Pentathlon Federation (Fedopem), accused of corruption in that entity.
Judge Fátima Veloz, who accepted the request presented by the Public Ministry, ordered the payment of a bond of 1 million 200 thousand pesos to Freddy Nuñez, and 300 thousand to Ozoria. In addition, he ordered the defendants to appear in court on the 30th of each month.
According to the Public Ministry, between 2011 and 2023 Fedopem He irregularly handled nearly 60 million pesos delivered by the Ministry of Sports. According to the authorities, this amount is under investigation, which is why they affirm that as the investigations progress, new people could emerge.
During the investigation, the Public Ministry carried out raids in the National District, in the María Trinidad Sánchez province and in the Fedopem offices at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, where he collected documents and evidence.
Freddy Núñez and Evaristo Ozoria are accused of corruption, forgery, use of false documents, embezzlement, association of criminals, fraud against the State and money laundering; crimes sanctioned by regulations such as article 146 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic and numerals 145, 147, 148, 171, 172, 265, 266 and 405 of the Dominican Penal Code.
