After long months of waiting, the Plenary Session of Congress will debate this Wednesday the final report of the Parliamentary Ethics Commission on the case of the legislator of Alliance for ProgressJuan Carlos Lizarzaburu. The document of this working group recommends the suspension for 120 days of the parliamentarian and the respective deduction of his salary.

The Ethics Committee concluded that Lizarzaburu violated parliamentary ethics with sexist remarks against his colleague Patricia Juárez of Fuerza Popular. For the commission, the APEP member violated articles 2, 4 and 6 of the Parliamentary Ethics Code on the duties and conduct that a congressman should have.

Lizarzaburu insulted the legislator during a virtual session of the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations.

“It has been proven that the accused congressman, with his statements, has not only generalized his female congressmen colleagues, but also directly insulted Congresswoman Patricia Juárez Gallegos (FP),” states the final document, approved eight months ago.

The debate will last one hour and the speaking time of each group will be distributed proportionally. The non-grouped congressmen will have one minute to speak on the subject.

Regarding the other final Ethics reports, including those of Katyy Ugarte and Jorge Flores Ancachi, the President of Congress, Eduardo Salhuana, reported that these will be evaluated in the session next Wednesday, the 11th.
