Santo Domingo.- The criminal lawyer, Pedro José Duarte Canaán, predicted that the well-known case of alleged acts of corruption, better known as the “Medusa file”, could have a final sentence in the year 2025.
He assured that all this time is because “Medusa” is a mega process that involves some 62 implicated and accused of the first order, such as the former Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez.
“I estimate that, due to the complexity of the file, we are talking about the “Medusa” case could have a final ruling in 2025,” said the legal professional when interviewed by the journalist José Cuevas, on the television program Tras fingerprints.
Duarte Canaán also explained that the file has about 12,500 pages and 90 lawyers who have the responsibility to thoroughly study the entire documentary file in order to make a defense under equal conditions against the persecutor who is the Public Ministry.

The jurist represents the named Alejandro Martin Rosa Yanes, accused in the file.
He argued that the court has granted the time of up to 60 business days to be able to examine in depth the file prepared by the public ministry, which has become the most complex of all times in the Dominican Republic.
Duarte Canaán assured that the preliminary hearing process alone could last between 24 to 28 months.
He argued that precisely in this preliminary hearing the guarantee judge will examine all the evidence presented in charge and in defense and it is where it will be decided whether the accused will be sent to trial. “Everything will depend on the merits of the evidence presented”
On August 12, the judge of the Third Court of Instruction of the National District, Amauri Martínez, postponed until December 19, 2022 at 9 in the morning the preliminary hearing followed by those involved in the corruption network case “Medusa” .
