The coastal city of Gibara, in Holguín, hosts these days the filming of the cuban movie the returnedthe second feature film by Gibareño director Armando Capó.
The film is produced by the independent GatoRosafilms and is accompanied by Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industries (ICAIC). Its plot is based on processes and moments in the filmmaker’s life, marked by national history, according to a report of the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
In turn, the work is a return to Capó’s hometown, to his roots, although it is not autobiographical but a fiction film, exposes the medium.
Capó explained that it is a work that he wanted to record in Cuba, since the script, to which Laura Conyedo also contributed, was designed to be filmed in Gibara, with locations in that town such as the boardwalk and the railway tunnel.
“There is also the cooperation of the people in that love and affection always present,” said the director of the documentary. the land of the whalea tribute to necessary people in the history and culture of Gibara, known as Villa Blanca.
«It is a matter of being in the town and realizing that you want to be an artist, even if you live in a small place without caring about everything that is around you, until the moment comes when you decide that there is no way back and you leave the people, because what I want to be is not in it or this is not enough for me and I need to leave to achieve it, are stories that are shown in The Returned»exposed the director.
The film features the young actor Julio Hervis as the protagonist, and well-known film and television performers such as Luis Alberto García, Arianna Delgado, Raquel Rey, Yeisa Hevia, Eduardo Martínez, Edel Govea, David Reys, Jazz Vila, along with the Iliana Casanella and Elier Álvarez from Holguin.
This project was the winner of the first and third calls of the ICAIC Development Fund, in the Development and Production categories, respectively, according to ACN’s recall.
Korojo Producciones also works in its production, as an associate, in addition to Wajiros films in co-production. Armando Capó Ramos is also the director of the film August.
