An inmate died and two others were injured in the middle of a fight with knives between cellmates at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center Rafey Menfrom Santiago de los Caballeros.
The victim was identified as Henry Sanchez (the Arab), 35 years old. The deceased had served eight of the 30 years to which he had been sentenced for murder.
The unidentified injured receive medical care at the prison clinic.
At this time, the Public Ministry and the doctor from the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) are carrying out the survey.

“The details of the conflict will be specified in the course of the investigations”declared the judicial official.
Relatives of the victim appeared at the prison center, who indicated that other inmates called them to inform them of what had happened.
According to what they said, they were told that the fight arose in retaliation because Sánchez had allegedly betrayed a colleague who tried to escape three months ago. That version has not been confirmed by the authorities.
