The Vice Minister of Fight Against Smuggling, Luis Amilcar Velásquez, informed a local radio station that rigorous control is being carried out in Bermejo, through the Chaco Operational Strategic Command and the units that are engaged in the fight against smuggling, to prevent national products from leaving the country.
“We have several fixed control points in the sector, we start with the one where the Río Negro is locatedThen we have the La Mamora customs interdiction point,” he said.
He added that in Bermejo, the military unit, which is stationed there and belongs to the Bolivian Navy, carries out operations in Aguas Blancas, which has eight checkpoints, which are found on the banks of the river, and which also have mobile patrols that move throughout the sector.
Velásquez added that not only the Chaco Strategic Operational Command and other units, “that are committed to the fight against smuggling,” carry out these tasks, but also the Joint Task Force that is located in Villamontes, and that also covers Yacuiba and Bermejo.
“Day by day clandestine positions increase, It is for this reason that we have mobile patrols, however this sector is being controlled by the military forces, where we are careful not to leave any product that affects the family basket of Bolivians,” concluded the vice minister.
