The Military Forces reinforced their operations against drug trafficking, achieving important seizures, captures and destructions.
The Colombian Military Forces continue to carry out operations throughout the national territory to combat drug trafficking.
In recent days, they have achieved new results that add to this fight, reaching relevant figures in seizures, captures and destruction of laboratories for drug processing.
In dialogue with La FM, the commander of the Military Forces, admiral Francisco Cubidesrevealed details of the recent operations and provided the updated balance of the seized drugs.
Operations
The development of these operations is carried out jointly between the National Army, the Colombian Navy, the Aerospace Force and the Police.
“There is an important exchange of intelligence that means we are permanently producing results. During the last hours, we achieved a major seizure at seawith the Colombian Navy, 90 miles from Barranquilla. There is a special operation there with air support and a boat that was carrying 2.6 tons of cocaine“Admiral Cubides revealed.
According to what he indicated, it was a highly complex operation due to the strong sea conditions and the crew members threw the cargo into the water.
“The operation was very complicated because it is a very heavy sea. The boat crew threw the bags with the cocaine into the sea and had to take three days to be able to recover them. Furthermore, it captures six individuals who have been brought to justice,” added the admiral.
Another important result occurred in Nariño. “There, the Army managed to dismantle a laboratory where they seized and destroyed 2.8 tons of cocaine and a large amount of inputs, in addition to an extensive infrastructure with equipment used for processing the alkaloid,” Cubides stated.

Figures
Thanks to this joint work, the Military Forces and the Police achieved a record number.
“This year we have managed to seize 622 tons of cocaine. This breaks the records of the previous year and is thanks to the permanent work of the Military Forces. Also added is the seizure of more than 180 tons of marijuana“said the admiral.
According to Cubides, another key link in drug trafficking that is being combated is the transformation of the coca leaf into base paste and then into hydrochloride.
“This joint effort is consolidated in the destruction of more than 180 cocaine laboratories and of more than 3,400 base paste laboratories. There we are weakening that link, as we also do in transportation and commerce. It is a permanent job carried out by the Military Forces,” concluded Admiral Francisco Cubides.
