According to data from the TSE, 15 capitals will have a second round for the mayoral race. In 11 capitals, the dispute for command of city halls was resolved in the first round.

The second round will be held in 50 municipalities with more than 200 thousand voters. In total, the second stage of voting could take place in 103 municipalities.

“Brazil will go to sleep knowing, in all states and municipalities, the elected officials”, stated the minister at a press conference this evening (6).

Abstention

According to court data, voter abstention was 21.71%. For Cármen Lúcia, the number shows that measures must be taken to encourage voters to vote.

Determination

The TSE also reported that the first result of the election occurred at 5 pm, in São Cristóvão do Sul (SC). At 7:10 pm, Paraíba was the first state to complete the investigation. At around 9pm, 97% of polls across the country were counted.

Buying votes

Regarding the volume of cash seizures during the electoral campaign, the president of the TSE said that institutional improvement is necessary to not allow illicit activities to prevail.

According to the Federal Police, around R$21 million in cash was seized during the first round campaign. There is suspicion of vote buying.

“These investigations need to end, the Public Ministry takes action and we have judicialization with the study of these cases so that there is adequate treatment”, he added.
