Santo Domingo. – Under the motto “Books connect”, the International Book Fair Santo Domingo 2024 (FILSD 2024) invites you to live, from November 7 to 17, a unique experience in the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, which will be the setting for a wide, attractive and diverse literary and cultural agenda.
Reading lovers, writers, creatives, families and the general public will be able to immerse themselves in an inspiring program of literary, cultural, creative and innovative activities distributed in eleven thematic pavilions and four specialized rooms.
In the Mateo Morrison Pavilion, this renowned Dominican writer and cultural manager, to whom this edition is dedicated, will be honored.
Likewise, there will be a space dedicated to celebrating the cultural and historical significance of Dominicans living abroad, with special focus on those residing in Washington Heights, New Yorkcommunity guest of honor of this XXVI Book Fair.
The promotion of writing rests on a dynamic agenda that will take place in the installation for Authors and Literary Workshops, in which blibliodiversity, Dominican literary production will be highlighted and the active participation of attendees will be encouraged.
Visitors to the fairgrounds in the Reading and Writing Encouragement area, a series of successful experiences and innovative projects that demonstrate the positive impact of books and literature on education and social development.
To celebrate narrative in all its forms, along with the participation of national and international writers, book and literature enthusiasts will have a rich and extensive schedule of activities in the Narrative Pavilion.
“Through attractive programming, you will be able to take a deep dive into the narrative universe, both Dominican and international. With the participation of prominent writers and a wide variety of themes, the pavilion is projected as an ideal space for the exchange of ideas and reflection on literary work,” explained Ángela Hernández, general director of Books and Reading.
During the tour of FILSD 2024, the public will also be able to visit the Identity and Citizenship Pavilion to learn or reaffirm their knowledge on issues of identity, citizen rights, cultural and civic values, as well as in the areas of inclusion and social responsibility.
There will also be pavilions dedicated to Comics and Imagination, rated in previous editions as the most creative and innovative. “The first promises exhibitions, talks, video game tournaments, launches and workshops, promoting comics as an artistic expression and educational medium, and the second will have its interactive essence as its hallmark, allowing visitors to explore the fusion between literature and emerging technology. highlighting creativity and innovation in an immersive environment,” says Hernández.
The Children’s Pavilion complements the offer, which will host educational and recreational activities for children under 12 years of age. Likewise, in the areas designated for Publishers and Bookstores, attendees will find a wide variety of works that cover all genres and themes.
Specialized rooms
The XXVI International Book Fair will also have specialized rooms: Literature, for conferences, workshops and presentations by prominent writers; Academies, a multidisciplinary space dedicated to educational, literary and scientific activities; Meetings, to promote collaboration between writers, editors and cultural managers; and Cinema and Literature, to explore the intersections between the seventh art and literature.
