With 515 days until the Women’s World Cup in Brazil, FIFA unveiled the tournament’s official emblem and slogan in a hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The brand combines the letters M and W, which mean woman and world in Portuguese and English (translation of women and world). The combination of the letters also forms a diamond that refers to the Brazilian flag and also resembles the geometry of a football field. The World Cup trophy is highlighted in front of the created symbol.
The GO EPIC™ slogan invites fans to be part of a memorable journey in Brazil. The tournament’s sound identity was also launched, inspired by Brazilian rhythms, percussions linked to samba and Afro-Brazilian heritage.
The event led by FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, brought together sports authorities, men’s and women’s football personalities.
“Brazil lives and breathes football, and you can already feel the excitement here in welcoming the whole world and hosting a historic event,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Legend of the sport, former player Formiga, who now holds the position of director of Football Policies and Promotion of Women’s Football at the National Secretariat of Football and Defense of Fans’ Rights of the Ministry of Sports, participated in the launch alongside the still active player Cris Rozeira.
“I hope that we can bring fans closer to women’s football and that we can change, day by day, the structure of women’s football”, highlighted Formiga.
Men’s football icons, Cafu and Ronaldo Fenômeno were summoned to represent the support of male athletes for the tournament.
“I’m a more excited Brazilian. I think we deserved the World Cup in our country given everything these girls did to make this moment happen. We have one of the greatest representatives of women’s football here. When conditions were precarious, you made women’s football recognized worldwide. I could talk about several stars, but it’s your day”, highlighted the five-time champion captain, Cafu.
The 2026 Men’s World Cup was also a highlight of the event. Infantino stressed that [o torneio] “It’s going to be spectacular. The world needs unity and joy and we’re going to bring joy to this World Cup.”
After the launch of the 2027 World Cup, FIFA paid tribute to the heroes of the Brazilian team’s world titles: Pepe (1958); Mengalvio (1962); Jairzinho (1970); Bebeto (1994); and Cafu (2022).
For the general public, Copacabana beach was the stage for the event considered the kickoff for the tournament, the first of its kind in South America. Artists drew special paintings on the asphalt that represented the eight Brazilian capitals that will host the competition.
A game with FIFA legends and former players played a promotional match at Posto 4, which was attended by fans made up of children from women’s football social projects.
