FIFA approves access to the new Club World Cup

The FIFA Council unanimously approved in Rwanda the access plan to the new format of the FIFA Club World Cup that will start in 2025, which will be held every four years and will have the participation of 32 teams and the presence of the six Confederations.

So, In five of the six confederations, the tournament will be played by the winners of the highest club competition during the four seasons prior to the event.

The exception will be Oceania, whose representative will be decided based on the set of results achieved in their highest competition of clubs for four years.

In total there will be 4 teams from the AFC, 4 from CAF, 4 from Concacaf, 1 from the OFC, 6 from CONMEBOL, 12 from UEFA and a representative of the host country.

In this list are already confirmed the Real Madrid, English Chelsea, Saudi Al Hilal, Egyptian Al Ahly, Moroccan Wydad Casablanca, Mexican Monterrey, American Seattle Souners and Brazilian Palmeiras and Flamengo.

It is also clarified that in the event that the same team wins the highest club competition of its confederation more than once, the additional place will be decided by a classification of the clubs in its area over four years. This will also decide which teams occupy the extra places that UEFA and the CONMEBOL.
