The president of the FIFA, Gianni Infantinoannounced this Saturday that the Inter Miamii of Lionel Messi will participate in the 2025 Club World Cup. Infantino went this Saturday to Inter Miami’s Chase Stadium, which beat New England Revolution 6-2 this Saturday.
“Because of this amazing performance this year, they deserve to be and will be in the 2025 Club World Cup,” Infantino told the Inter Miami fans.
The FIFA president also detailed that Inter Miami will play the opening match of this new tournament at the Hard Rock Stadium in the city of Florida. The team led by Gerardo Martino had already mathematically won the MLS Supporters’ Shield at the beginning of October, which rewards the best team in the regular season in the MLS.
The expanded FIFA Club World Cup, which will premiere in the summer of 2025, had a place in the air that corresponded by invitation to the United States, the organizing country. FIFA chose Inter Miami after an exceptional season with 20 goals and 16 assists from Messi in just 19 games and another 20 goals from Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez.
