The number of tickets for the matches sold for the Qatar World Cup reached a total of 2.45 million before the final sales phase scheduled for the big event that will take place between November 20 and December 18, announced this Thursday FIFA.

During a new sales phase organized from July 5 to August 16, applying the “first come, first served” principle, 520,532 additional tickets were sold, reported the body that organizes the largest event in world football at the national team level. .

Fans from Qatar, the United States, England, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, France, Argentina, Brazil and Germany lead the ranking of ticket sales by country of residence, FIFA added.

For the group stage matches, the international federation specifies that the “most successful” clashes were Cameroon-Brazil (Group G), Brazil-Serbia (Group G), Portugal-Uruguay (Group H), Costa Rica- Germany (group E) and Australia-Denmark (group D).

In June, organizers reported “record demand” for tickets, with a total sold at the time of 1.2 million. In early July, FIFA mentioned 1.8 million tickets sold.

There are a total of 3,010,679 tickets available for the World Cup in Qatar. The figure of 2.45 million corresponds to tickets sold to all categories (general public, FIFA members, federations, hotels, etc.).

More than a million visitors are expected in Qatar, a country of 2.8 million inhabitants, which will host the first World Cup in history in an Arab country.

A final phase of sale, called “last minute”, is scheduled as the tournament approaches, according to FIFA.

The body will announce the start date of this last phase at the end of September, which will also operate under the principle of “first come, first served” and will last until the end of the competition on December 18. YS
