The Ministry of Education (MEC) releases, this Thursday (19), the result of the pre-selection in the single call for the Student Financing Fund (Fies) in the first half of 2026. The consultation must be made at Single Portal for Access to Higher Educationin the Fies tab.
The federal program, managed by the MEC, grants financing to low-income students in undergraduate courses at private higher education institutions.
Pre-selection
The candidate is pre-selected in only one of the options made when registering for a course/shift/place offered by the private institution.
The classification in the Fies 2026 selection process was carried out according to the descending order of the grades obtained by the candidates in Enem, by type of vacancy.
Registration supplement
Pre-selected students must access the website from FiesSeleção with the platform password Gov.br to complete the registration, from this Friday (20) until 11:59 pm on February 24, Brasília time.
During the registration completion period, those pre-selected for the Fies Social vacancy will be able to request full financing, covering up to 100% of the educational fees charged by the private college.
Fies Social
Fies Social reserves 50% of places for students with a family income per person of up to half a minimum wage (R$810.50, in 2026) and with active registration in the federal government’s Single Registry of Social Programs (CadÚnico).
If the Permanent Supervision and Monitoring Committee (CPSA) of the private higher education institution identifies a discrepancy in the family income declared at the time of registration, the presentation of additional documentation may be required to prove it.
Vacancies
In this first semester, Fies offers 67,301 places in 1,421 universities, colleges and private university centers, for 19,834 courses and shifts.
In 2026, the total number of Fies vacancies to be offered is 112,168. The remaining vacancies and those that may not be filled in this edition will be offered in the second semester edition.
Of the total, vacancies are reserved for black, brown, indigenous, quilombola and people with disabilities, in proportion to the population of these groups in each state, according to the demographic census of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Waiting list
According to the Fies noticestudents who are not pre-selected in the single call will automatically be on the waiting list to fill unoccupied places, observing the order of classification.
Anyone on the Fies waiting list must follow the results of any pre-selection on the website from FiesSeleção.
Waiting list pre-selection will take place from February 26th to April 10th.
Fies
Annually, Fies has two regular selection processes, one per academic semester. And also selection processes for remaining vacancies, which occur after the regular processes, with the aim of filling vacancies that may be unfilled.
