Fidel Castro’s grandson: “We must fight for a medical revolution”

This Saturday, at the closing of the I Scientific Convention on Health, society and sustainable development, held in Ciego de Ávila at the “Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola”, Castro Smirnov He gave the keynote lecture “Nanotechnology and Nuclear Sciences in the medicine of the future,” where he referred to advances in the field of biotechnology and urged Cuban researchers to “update” as much as possible.

In his speech before the specialists who gathered at the scientific convention, he referred to the importance of the country “progressively inserting itself” into the so-called P4 Medicine (predictive, preventive, personalized and participatory), since “it will create better care “medical, will reduce the cost of medical care and will motivate innovation and the creation of new companies.”

Without referring to the shortcomings of Cuban hospitals and the conditions in which doctors and researchers must carry out their functions, he asked to dedicate “resources, effort, science” to these issues, when the majority of the regime’s investment is allocated to tourism.

In his closing speech he did not miss the opportunity to allude to his lineage and legitimize his words with those of his grandfather, as he urged not to forget “Fidel and his example.”

In this regard, he insisted that Cuban scientists seek “sovereignty” by creating their own products, patents, exporting and creating income “for the national economy.”

Her conference seemed to be an “exhortation” to Cuban researchers to “update themselves,” as described by the official. Cuban News Agencywhich inserted fragments of the intervention of Castro’s grandson, the only one that stood out from the sessions held.

In one of his speeches, he recommended that Cubans “investigate more vigorously” about artificial intelligence and machine learning or machine learning, because “they are relevant trends worldwide,” even though the Government maintains limited access to internet browsing.

In conclusion, and without detaching himself from the figure of his grandfather, he said: “From Fidel we learned that we must fight for a medical revolution in Our America for the humble, with the humble and for the humble, he concluded.”
