This investigation points to the alleged responsibility of Tomás Zerón, former official of the then Attorney General’s Office during Enrique Peña Nieto’s six-year term: he is accused of the crimes of embezzlement, equated fraud and criminal association along with other officials, while he served as chief director of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the PGR,
“Currently, the request for an arrest warrant against whoever is proceeding is being processed, as well as the guidelines for exercising criminal action,” said the FGR.
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that it can extend the criminal action for crimes related to illegal espionage when it obtains information in this regard.
The second investigation folder was initiated for illegal intervention of private communications to the detriment of various journalists and human rights defenders, for which an alleged perpetrator was linked to the process.
