The FGR’s statement comes after the existence of an investigation involving the president of MCCI, a civil society organization known for documenting and denouncing alleged cases of corruption and conflicts of interest involving public and private actors, emerged.
As it became known, the FGR is allegedly trying to charge María Amparo Casar with illicit use of powers and powers for receiving the lifetime pension that Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) granted her for the death of her husband, Carlos Fernando Márquez Padilla.
For this reason, the president of MCCI is scheduled for next December 16 at the Federal Criminal Justice Center of the Reclusorio Oriente to appear at an initial hearing before Judge Diana Selene Medina Hernández.
When this information became known, on social networks, several people and organizations shared messages of support and accused the new FGR of acting under orders.

In May 2024, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) had already reported that it had filed a complaint against various public servants of Mexican Oil (Pemex) and three individuals, among which was Maria Amparo Casarfor the pension she received after the death of her husband.
Through a brief statement, the federal agency detailed that the investigation also covers two of his children in the same case.
MCCI, under the direction of María Amparo Casar, has been one of the most visible and critical organizations against different governments, which has placed its leadership at the center of political discussion.
In this framework, the FGR insisted that its actions are governed solely by legal criteria and that any investigation must be understood within institutional channels, without interpretations that attribute political motivations to its work.
