Cárdenas Martínez faces extradition proceedings. United States authorities require it.
The deadline for the device to be placed expired on December 26, but the judge decided to extend it, without notifying another authority.
“The corresponding revocation appeal will be presented before Judge Beltrán Santés, arguing that the FGR was not given a hearing to rule, and a complaint will be filed against said judge before the Federal Judiciary Council (CJF).” the FGR reported.
Cárdenas is the nephew of Osiel Cárdenas Guillén, recently extradited to Mexico.
In November, another judge granted Cárdenas the benefit of leaving preventive detention while the extradition process is resolved.
The Attorney General’s Office points out that there is a risk that the subject will abscond before being delivered to the United States.
