As of this Friday, January 2, there are 14 fatalities reported in the derailment, according to authorities.
The FGR said that “under the direction of the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), experts from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), with the participation of the Railway Safety Regulatory Agency, carried out the extraction of information from the locomotive’s black box, which is kept in a warehouse of evidence.”
”As part of the interview process, personnel from the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) delivered the appearance of the legal representative of Ferrocarril del Istmo de Tehuantepec, in which various evidence was provided that was annexed to the investigation,” he added.
The authority stated that personnel from the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Oaxaca carried out the corresponding procedures to provide the necessary facilities for the delivery of the body of a deceased person to the IMSS Regional High Specialty Hospital, which resulted in 14 fatalities.
FGR explained that the preparation of expert opinions from AIC experts in the fields of genetics and forensic chemistry, computer science, as well as civil engineering, architecture and other specialties continues.
In addition, various luggage was located in the area of the derailment, “for which the respective inventory is being carried out and work is being done with the state government, whose personnel will go to the hospitals so that the victims who wish to do so can make their claim.”
