Fevelif asks breweries to stop “discrimination” against small and medium merchants

Fevelif asks breweries to stop "discrimination" against small and medium merchants

The Venezuelan Federation of Liquoros y Related said that the beer companies have implemented “discount plans” to “exclusive customers”, which affects small and medium merchants in the sector. Fevelif criticized the “excessive” municipal tax burden because “drowns the profitability” and drives “informality”

The president of the Venezuelan Federation of Liquoros and Related (Fevelif), Johnson Delgado, asked Venezuelan brewing companies to stop “the damage that certain discounts and plans cause in the beer marketing circuit.

Delgado explained that “we have clients of years, formal liquormen who bet on the national brand, which are being subjected to commercial discrimination with exclusive discounts and preferential conditions that are only granted to a handful of ‘exclusive clients’ or large volume.”

He warned that this strategy creates “unsustainable” unfair competition, because small and medium liquormen cannot compete in prices with these actors.

«We make a formal call to brewer companies: avoid deepening this damage. Beer is a pillar of our business, and these discriminatory policies are creating a first and second market, destroying the profitability of most of our affiliates and threatening to get them out of the game, ”said the union leader.

The representative of the Federation of Liquoros reiterated that they maintain their fight against smuggling and illegality, since they favor tax evasion and put public health at risk. He also criticized the “excessive” municipal tax burden because “drowns the profitability” and drives “informality.”

Delgado said they are willing to dialogue with the national and municipal authorities to “guarantee a fair regulatory framework, fight against smuggling and review the practices of large companies to ensure equal conditions for all formal liquor trade.”
