One of Brasilia’s main postcards, the TV Tower is 55 years old. To celebrate the date, a series of attractions are being held this weekend. Until this Saturday (12), ornamental and multimedia shows are scheduled, during the day and at night, in the light source of the place.
Visiting the viewpoint will have special hours and will work from 9 am to 5:45 pm. The public will also be able to take an online tour through the Tower’s Instagram. Even today there will be an ornamental show from 11 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to midnight, with projection from 7 pm.
History
The Brasília TV Tower was designed by architect and urban planner Lúcio Costa. Inaugurated in 1967, to receive antennas from radio and TV stations, it is the second tallest structure in Brazil, with 230 meters high.
The mezzanine is located on the first floor, with 360 degree space and a tile panel by Athos Bulcão. The viewpoint is 75 meters from the ground and offers a panoramic view of the South and North wings and the Monumental Axis.
The light source and the Feira da Torre complete the tourist complex. Under renovation since 2020, this month began a second stage of the works to complete the water mirrors and the irrigation project for the flower beds in Jardim Burle Marx. The site is also expected to offer free Wi-Fi for the population.
