The 29th edition of Festival Mix Brasil runs until November 21st, with films, theatrical shows and musical shows dedicated to diversity. This year, the festival is held in a hybrid format – virtual and in person. The programming, all free, can be seen in five cultural spaces in the city of São Paulo, with sanitary protocols and proof of vaccination requirement. Events will also be broadcast over the internet.
117 films from 28 countries and all regions of Brazil will be screened. Singer Ney Matogrosso, honored with the Icon Mix award, will have his trajectory presented in five national films, among them, Ney à Skin Flower, by Felipe Nepomuceno, and scum, by Helena Ignez. National feature films, such as private desert, by Aly Muritiba, and God has AIDS, by Fábio Leal and Gustavo Vinagre.
On stage, the show comes on during the show. He, by Oliver Olívia, in which two men are married in real life – one cis and the other transgender. The play takes place from performative games that both perform together. The pandemic appears at the center of the plot of What remains, by Thiago Vilanova and Edson Thiago Rossi, in which two lovers discuss indigenous and transsexual identities.
The closing ceremony, on the night of the 21st, will be performed by singer Raquel, one of the members of the trio As Baías.
