Andres Alencastre, Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), reported that through Emergency Decree 013 the purchase and distribution of urea for S/ 348 million is authorized. In addition, it is estimated that the fertilizer would arrive in Peru within a maximum period of 45 days from the contract date.
“The delivery of urea would be between June 12 and July 11, this date is what positively enables us to arrive on time when the crops require fertilizers,” The minister pointed out in the Agrarian Commission of the Congress of the Republic.
It is worth mentioning that the results of the evaluation of the purchase offer will be available on Monday the 13th and from this date the improvement of the conditions will be negotiated (shorter delivery time, lower price, urea presentation format and greater number of delivery ports). Once the negotiations are concluded, the contracts will be signed.
In this sense, the date of receipt of the first load of urea in Peruvian territory will depend on the supplier’s country of origin. Therefore, Andrés Alencastre estimates that the fertilizer would arrive in the country between 30 and 45 days after the contract date (July 11 is the maximum term).
Also, the distribution of urea will be made from three ports: Salaverry, Callao and Matarani.
“The fertilizers will be distributed to 52 Agrorural warehouses nationwide, from where they will be distributed to the different districts,” holds the holder of the Midagri.

On the other hand, Alencastre referred to economic aid to producers, so through DU 106-2021, an economic subsidy of between S/ 350 and S/ 1,300 is authorized for producers who purchase fertilizers and manage between two and ten hectares.
In addition, a bonus of S / 350 to producers of less than two hectares and who have not received other economic aid from the State.
