Ferroviária made use of the home advantage to achieve its first victory in Series A1 of the Brazilian Women’s Football Championship. Playing at Arena Fonte Luminosa, in Araraquara, Guerreiras Grenás defeated Botafogo 2-1 on Saturday night (21).
The home team dominated the first stage of the match, but the team led by coach Léo Mendes only managed to open the scoring after the break, with midfielder Maressa taking a penalty kick in the seventh minute. But the Gurias Grenás had the advantage for a short time, as 11 minutes later the Gloriosas drew with midfielder Rita Bove.
However, the dominance really belonged to Ferroviária, who gave the scorer final numbers in the 23rd minute, thanks to a header from defender Andressa following a corner kick from full-back Fátima Dutra. With the three points achieved this Saturday, the Gurias Grenás moved up to 11th place. Botafogo fell to 10th place after the defeat.
