Faced with the illegal settlement of ‘morning’ merchants on the train tracks in the El Trillo area, the company Ferroviaria Oriental SA, through a statement, announced legal action against union leaders and requested the timely intervention of the Police to guarantee the continuity of railway operations, which were affected by the invasion.

“The fact is an attack against the security of transport, Therefore, Ferroviaria Oriental will carry out the legal actions before the pertinent authorities and given the seriousness of the fact, requests their immediate intervention to guarantee the continuity of railway operations so as not to put people’s lives and physical integrity at risk,” the statement said.

Since the early hours of this Wednesday, some 2,000 morning workers invaded a sector of the private properties of the Guarachi Cargo Terminal, in the area of the Barrio Lindo fair. Using force, the leader René Troncoso broke the locks and accommodated the street vendors on the train tracks.

All of this occurred in full view of the police who were at the scene and did not prevent the settlement.
