The president of Ferrocarriles Argentinos Sociedad del Estado (FASE), Damián Contreras, proposed this Thursday a bill for the “historic repair” of the sector that allows “guaranteeing the necessary investments”, with the precaution that “those objectives are not interrupted due to the political situation.
Contreras spoke in this way during the opening speech of Latin Rieles, the congress and exhibition held on the grounds of the National Center for Railway Training (Cenacaf), where he called for “promoting the national federalization of the railway.”
He added that this “historic repair” must be “a state policy that helps generate investment planning in infrastructure, signaling, rolling stock to recover and modernize the network,” it said in a statement.
Contreras summoned “the entire railway system to generate a law proposal” and said that this future rule “will guarantee the necessary investments for the sector in terms of cargo and passengers and ensure medium- and long-term planning, without these objectives are interrupted by the political situation
“It is our wish that the railway policy really becomes a State policy and that it integrates all the sectors of the system”, affirmed the president of FASE. And he explained that the initiative proposes that it be the National Congress “who assures us the continuity of these works, regardless of the officials who pass through the railway system.”
