Ferrer collaborates with the Foundation Offers a Home of Panama to contribute to the comprehensive development of children in vulnerable situations

With the purpose of generating a positive impact on Panamanian society, the international pharmaceutical company Ferrer, raised the figure of 5 thousand dollars in the development of its 2nd Ferrer Latam Summit held in Panama and whose funds were donated in full to the Offer a Home Foundation. to continue promoting care and help programs for more than 50 children and adolescents in vulnerable situations, having already benefited more than 5,000 people in its 29-year history.

The Summit, a scientific updating congress that brought together more than 350 specialists from numerous Latin American countries, such as Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica and Argentina provided these professionals with a significant opportunity to obtain an integrated view of the latest advances in the areas of cardiology, pulmonary hypertension, neurology, and gastroenterology.

Beyond the scientific presentations, the meeting sought to generate a positive impact on society, for which information was shared with the attendees about the “For Good” activities that Ferrer carries out in the territory. Specifically, Ferrer collaborates with the Offer a Home Foundation. In an emotional ceremony held on Friday night, Ferrer delivered a donation of 5,000 dollars to said entity, as well as medical equipment and the acquisition of toys and cleaning material.

Ana Melissa Españó, President of the Offer a Home Foundation, declared “since 1993, our foundation has promoted the right to life from conception and the human rights of children and adolescents at social risk, especially the right to restitution family. We thank the pharmaceutical company Ferrer for this opportunity and invite other private companies to add their support to the vulnerable child population in our country”.

According to Mario Rovirosa, CEO of Ferrer, “we want to promote a new way of doing business and being in the world. Our business is not an end in itself, but rather a means to generate substantial social change. We work to achieve a minimum level of economic profitability that guarantees the sustainability of the company and thus reinvest a large part of our profits in initiatives with a social and environmental impact. For this reason, this collaboration with the Offer a Home Foundation reflects our firm commitment to the young Panamanian population, especially with those people in a situation of vulnerability”.

Ferrer, which has been operating in Panama for more than 20 years, offers therapeutic solutions focused on vascular and interstitial lung diseases, neurological disorders, gastroenterology and cardiology.
According to Alejandro Mora, Country Manager of Ferrer for the Central America and Caribbean region, “Ferrer plans to strengthen its presence in the American continent through its subsidiaries and upcoming key launches, both in the hospital environment and in the focus therapeutic areas. At Ferrer we are betting on the construction of a hospital structure that allows us to respond to the unmet needs of patients with this type of more specialized therapy”.

With the celebration of the 2nd Ferrer Latam Summit in Panama, the international company has also accelerated its commitment to continuous training for health professionals in Latin America.

A 100% sustainable event

In line with Ferrer’s mission to protect the environment for our own good and that of future generations, the event was held taking into account the highest sustainability criteria, offsetting the sum of the CO2 emissions generated for travel, energy consumption, accommodation, food consumed and materials produced.
In total, 106 tons of CO2 were offset through participation in the VCS Peralta Wind environmental project, an initiative for the development and operation of an onshore wind farm located 280 km north of Montevideo, in Uruguay, which contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by replacing fossil fuel power generation with wind power.
On the other hand, with the aim of continuing to generate a positive impact on society and to make Summit attendees aware of the importance of protecting our planet, Ferrer showed attendees the Latam Summit forest where Ferrer symbolically has planted as many trees as attendees, to raise awareness of sustainability. With this Treedom project, with which Ferrer collaborates, more than 3 million trees have been planted so far in Africa, South America and Asia. All trees are planted directly by local farmers, bringing environmental, social and financial benefits to their communities.
