The Spanish Carlos Sainz Jr. (Ferrari) achieved his first victory in Formula 1 this Sunday, in the British Grand Prix, the 10th round of the World Championship, which was interrupted after the start and for about an hour due to an accident .

The Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) and the British Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) accompanied him on the podium, while the Dutch Max Verstappen, still leader of the World Championship at the end of the race, could only be seventh at the wheel of his Red Bull.

“I don’t know what to say, it’s wonderful. First win in 150 races with Ferrari at Silverstone, it’s a very special day,” said Sainz.

Already the author of his first pole in the premier class the day before, Sainz had to wait for his 150th Grand Prix to climb to the top of the podium – at the end of a GP marked by a spectacular accident involving several drivers, such as the Thai Alexander Albon (Williams) and the Chinese Zhou Guanyu (Alfa-Romeo).

After the tests, the second left the medical center “in good health”, while the first was transferred to the hospital “for tests as a precaution”.

Also, while the race was still neutralized, several people tried to jump onto the track. “Those people were immediately removed and the case is now in the hands of local authorities,” the International Automobile Federation said.

One hour after the accident there was a new start at the legendary Silverstone track, where more than 400,000 spectators were expected for the weekend, and they were not disappointed by the show.

The last laps brought a nice fight for second place between Pérez, Lewis Hamilton and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).

Pérez won the battle, and then Hamilton took his duel with Leclerc for the third place on the podium.

The next test, the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, is scheduled for July 10, in a week. Will it be the occasion for Verstappen to overcome the bump in the house of his team?
