Just hours before a new march called by generation Z and different citizen unions takes place, the president of Congress, Fernando Rospigliosiissued a warning against those who intend to raise their voices in protest. The Fujimori legislator assured that the National Police of Peru (PNP) will repress any “violent act” that occurs during the demonstration, without clarifying what will be considered such according to police criteria. The message was spread on the official X account (formerly Twitter) of Congress.
“All the devices are being prepared for the marches that will take place tomorrow, Friday and, eventually, Saturday. There is information that some protesters will try to carry out acts of violence, as happened a month ago. The Congress of the Republic supports the PNP to prevent this violence. It cannot be tolerated that the police go unarmed to receive stones, fireworks and all kinds of blunt objects. “The police have to repress violent protesters,” he said.

The police repression reached one of its highest points in the march on October 15, when the third-class non-commissioned officer Luis Magellandressed in civilian clothes, shot Eduardo Ruiz Sanzknown as ‘Trvko’, causing his death. Faced with this, the new march called for this November 14 includes among its slogans the call to condemn and stop the violence carried out by law enforcement: “(…) We march for justice. Since 2020, the State responds with violence: Inti and Bryan, ‘Trvko’ and the more than 50 murdered during 2022 and 2023,” a member of the Generation Z United Coordinator to The Republic.
The organizers indicated that the concentration point will be the square May 2ndstarting at 5:30 in the afternoon. In addition to demanding the end of police repression, the demonstration demands the repeal of the so-called “procrime laws”a set of standards approved by the Congress which, according to specialists, favor the expansion of organized crime. Likewise, the protesters demand a renewal of the national political class.
Fernando Rospigliosi called Eduardo Ruiz Sanz ‘terruco’
Added to his call for repression is his incriminating spirit. Weeks ago, the head of Congress referred to the murder of Eduardo Ruiz Sanz. During his speech, the legislator Popular Force He stated that the young man was known as “terruco.” The reporters present immediately corrected him, stating that his stage name was “Trvco.” Despite the warning, Rospigliosi dismissed the clarification and insisted that the nickname had the pejorative meaning that he attributed to it, thus stigmatizing the deceased artist.
In response to these statements, the father of Ruiz Sanz He publicly questioned the parliamentarian for the label issued against his son. He demanded to see him to ask for explanations and stressed that “Trvco” was only a stage name, not a political or violent allusion. The family sent a notarized letter demanding a rectification that, to date, the Fujimori representative has not made.
Just like now, Rospigliosi He also defended the PNP then: he maintained that those who attacked the Police had been released, while the agent involved in the musician’s death faced preventive detention, something he considered contrary to the regulations approved by Parliament. He added that the investigation must continue, but – according to his position – with the police officer facing the process at large.
