The president of the Broad Front, Ferdinand Pereiracriticized the members of the government coalition who have “selective indignation, the clothes are torn when the dining rooms do not work in a strike measure and they are suspended for three consecutive days due to an administrative decision”.
It refers to the General Directorate of Initial and Primary Education set September 21, 22 and 23 as non-business days (including Teacher’s Day). On those days, therefore, the school food service was not provided and tickets (or transfers) were not delivered to replace school food (as sometimes happens on holidays).
In this sense, Pereira criticized that “it does not appear as the main news that “our children do not have food for three days, especially because the education authorities do not make these resolutions public.”
On September 15, the day of the general strike of the single workers’ union, the teachers’ union refused to carry out a union guard for the delivery of food, arguing that this is not the role of teachers and that they It is up to the State (and the authorities) to respond to the lack of food for the children.
Pereira concluded: “We must go in the direction of taking responsibility so that our boys and girls are fed 365 days a year.”
