This Friday, March 11, Gabriel Boric, 36 years old and leader of a broad coalition of leftist parties, assumed the Presidency of Chile.
Through video, the president of the Broad Front of Uruguay, Fernando Pereira, said that the assumption of Boric to the Presidency of Chile is for all the progressives of Uruguay a reason for enormous joy and deep satisfaction.
“That an ally of progressivism, of values of equality, solidarity and progress reaches the government of Chile, guiding a generation of thirty-odd years, is a wind of hope for all of Latin America,” said the president of the FA.
Pereira assured that the winds of hope are blowing in Latin America. “Chile is one case and Brazil is another, and we believe that in Uruguay we are also building hope.”
Another fight for rights
He explained that it was not possible for him to attend Boric’s inauguration ceremony, because he is working all the time to build a majority that annuls 135 articles of the Law of Urgent Consideration. “Working in this sense is being in events, assemblies, visiting neighbors and calling the undecided. Well, we would like to be with the Chileans celebrating such an important day for them”.
“We would like to celebrate this Latin American victory, but we have to fight this fight, which is also for rights, for popular education, security, for public companies and the rights of workers. For this fight we have stayed here in Uruguay, but our heart is in Chile and in the assumption of Boric and his entire team. Long live Chile!” Pereira sentenced.
